Strategic. Warm. Modern. Human. Meet the HR Team You Always Wanted.

We didn’t build an HR consulting company for fun, we built the HR team we wish our younger selves had.

If you’ve worked in enough growing companies, you eventually meet two kinds of HR:
HR that reacts… and HR that builds.

One shows up only when something’s on fire (or when you’re about to be “invited to a chat”).

The other shows up long before the sparks, the kind of HR that can talk strategy, travel, and a little tequila, all while making your org better than it was yesterday.

When Steph and I created The People Group, we didn’t sit down and say,
“Let’s build another HR consulting firm.”

Instead, we asked a different question:

“What kind of HR team did we need earlier in our careers, and how do we build that for founders today?”

Turns out, the answer wasn’t a firm.
It was a team.

A team that feels like:

  • Someone finally turned the lights on.

  • You can breathe again.

  • You’re not running HR off the side of your desk (or via ChatGPT).

  • There’s actually a plan, and not the kind scribbled in a notebook during a meeting you definitely didn’t have time for.

A team that blends:

  • Strategy, so your decisions connect to where your business is going.

  • Clarity, so people know what “good” looks like.

  • Warmth, because HR without humanity is just paperwork with fancy fonts.

  • Operational excellence, so things actually get done, accurately, legally, and without drama.

But also a team that feels… like humans.
Not robots.
Not corporate buzzwords wrapped in a LinkedIn sweater.
Actual, real humans.

Because here’s the truth neither of us believed early in our careers:
HR can be effective and have personality.
We can be professional without being predictable.
We can be strategic without being stiff.
We can be the “grown-ups in the room” and still laugh in the middle of a 1:1 when someone admits their onboarding plan is basically a Google Doc and a prayer.

We bring experience from Canada, the U.S., LATAM, and fast-growing global teams.

We’ve seen enough complexity to know what works and enough chaos to know what doesn’t.
We’ve supported SaaS startups, manufacturing floors, healthcare networks, venture-backed teams, and global leaders navigating every phase of growth.

We’ve coached leaders through:

  • Scaling from 10 to 50 to 200

  • Performance systems that actually work

  • Culture building that isn’t performative

  • Compliance (Boring? Maybe. Necessary? Always.)

  • Broken teams, confused teams, brilliant teams

  • Founders doing their absolute best while flying a rocket ship and building the wings mid-flight

And through all that, the same realization kept coming back:

Founders don’t need an HR consultant.
They need an HR corner.
(Yes, the boxing analogy is deliberate. We’re leaning in.)

A corner that brings clarity in chaos.
A corner that keeps you standing when the round gets rough.
A corner that sees what’s coming before you do, and prepares you for it.

That’s The People Group.

Playful when it fits.
Serious when it matters.
Modern, but grounded.
Human, always.

We’re here to build the HR function you wish you had five years ago, the one that helps your people thrive, your leaders grow, and your culture stand the test of scaling.

If you’re growing, changing, hiring, or rebuilding…
If you’re tired of “DIY HR” and ready for a real partnership…
If you want HR with brains, a backbone, and a heartbeat…

Welcome.
We built this for you.
